“Scream” reunion! Matthew Lillard surprises Comic-Con with reveal that Skeet Ulrich is joining “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Matthew Lillard surprised audiences at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 in a video with the news that his Scream costar Skeet Ulrich has joined the cast of the FNAF sequel.

“His name is Skeet Ulrich, and he’s in the next movie, so welcome him to the stage,” Lillard said on Thursday afternoon. “Scream loud! Scream louder! Scream! Thank you, everyone, much love. Enjoy San Diego, have a blast.”

Ulrich then joined the film’s cast on the stage in Hall H. “Thank you for being here,” he told the roaring crowd. “I can’t tell you how honored I am to be a part of this family and to be a part of the fandom now that is really voracious, so thank you.”

Ulrich also declined to confirm which character he’ll be playing in the horror sequel. “I wish I could, but I was told I cannot,” he explained. “I will say I play somebody with a very particular and specific past, and somebody who has a deep emotional tie to what’s going on. Other than that, I’m not really allowed to say. “

Lillard and Ulrich memorably played the original two Ghostface killers, Stu Macher and Billy Loomis, in the original 1996 Scream. Ulrich reprised his role (in imaginary ghost form) in 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI, and Lillard is set to return to the franchise for the first time in the upcoming Scream VII.

Lillard appeared in the first Five Nights at Freddy’s film in 2023, playing career counselor Steve Raglan — who was later revealed to be William Afton, the movie’s main antagonist. Although he was defeated at the conclusion of the first movie, Lillard’s character is returning in the sequel.
