Major League Baseball’s 2025 trade deadline is rapidly approaching. The deadline will pass in less than 24 hours (6 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 31), and that means a frenzied period of swapping between buyers and sellers is in the offing. Deadline deals picked up Wednesday. The Mariners acquired Eugenio Suárez, the most-sought-after slugger available, from the D-backs. The Phillies and Mets, meanwhile, both made big bullpen splashes. The Phillies got closer Jhoan Duran from the Twins, while the Mets added Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals.
The Diamondbacks are expected to continue selling after moving Suárez, and pitchers Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen remain on the trade block. Padres righty Dylan Cease, Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara and outfielders Luis Robert Jr., Steven Kwan and Cedric Mullins are other big names who could be packing their bags this week.
