The New York Yankees made a few moves earlier this week, but they’ve been eerily quiet as the trade deadline quickly approaches.

The Bronx Bombers desperately need to find a solution in the starting rotation as well as in the bullpen. Their pitching staff has struggled and been crushed with injuries.

While the bigger issue is in the starting rotation, the Yankees could add a bullpen arm or two in order to shorten games from the backend with a stacked bullpen.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post recently suggested the Yankees could find their solution to the bullpen in a trade with the Minnesota Twins for reliever Griffin Jax.

Jax is a very talented pitcher with team control left on his deal. Since the Twins already traded Jhoan Durán to the Philadelphia Phillies, it seems a bit unlikely that Jax will be moved. But, on the other hand, relief pitching has been the hottest commodity on the market.

If the Twins were to move Jax, there’s a good chance they could net at least one top-100 prospect. The Yankees don’t have the deepest farm system to trade from, but they could make a trade happen if they wanted to upgrade the bullpen badly enough.

The Yankees should be desperate enough to make a deal like this. Over the last few years, the Bronx Bombers haven’t been too aggressive at the trade deadline, and it’s come back to haunt them each season.

If the Yankees want to take advantage of a historic year from Aaron Judge, they’re going to need to make big moves like this.
