It’s time to dust off those rain jackets: Bellingham could receive up to 1.5 inches of rain by Saturday, Aug. 16, according to the National Weather Service.
While it’s unlikely that rivers will flood, there may be some urban-like flooding in flat areas and roadways. Burn scars aren’t anticipated to flood either.
The rain is expected to start Thursday night, Aug. 14, and last through Saturday. While the rain is expected to be light on Friday, Aug. 15, it’ll become heavier through Friday evening and into Saturday morning, according to the NWS.
Temperatures will remain in the high 60s and low 70s.
A small craft advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. through 11 p.m. on Aug 15.
It’s been a dry summer, according to NOAA weather data. The NWS reported 0.34 inches of rain in July and 0.98 inches of rain in June. Last August, Bellingham received 2.61 inches of rain.
