As of late, there’s a shoe that I can’t stop thinking about (or seeing). It’s the classic loafer, and it’s also noticeably favored by some of the most well-dressed celebrities on my radar. 

From Dakota Johnson and Jane Fonda to Brittany Snow and Anne Hathaway, each leading lady uniquely styled the timeless shoe, whether accompanied a dressy look or a low-key ensemble. I’ve even spotted fictional characters opting for this shoe as well, like Lola Tung’s Belly from The Summer I Turned Pretty, who threw on a brown pair with a shift dress and jean jacket.

If you’ve ever wondered what movie stars like Dakota Johnson wear to the grocery store, allow me to give you the insight —  it’s a relaxed gray T-shirt, straight-leg jeans, and a pair of well-worn loafers. I’m a fan of the simplicity of this look, which fueled my search to find a lookalike for her shoes. 

These Sam Edelman loafers showcase similar gold hardware across the upper, as well as a narrower toe. They also have a cushioned footbed, which helps if you’re also planning a Johnson-esque run to Erewhon. 

Blondo Waterproof Penny Loafer

At 87 years old, Jane Fonda is as stylish and elegant as ever. Earlier this year, she paired her eggplant-colored suit with cheetah-print loafers at the 2025 California Conference for Women, using her slip-ons as a statement piece. One such pair that embodies the same playfulness as hers is this waterproof style by Blondo. Along with the bold print, the memory-foam footbed and a thick lug bottom are standouts, as they help you stay steady on uneven and slippery surfaces.

Since The Devil Wears Prada 2 has begun filming, the PEOPLE shopping team has been keeping close tabs on the cast’s on-set looks. In doing so, I spotted yet another pair of sleek loafers on Anne Hathaway herself. Along with an olive-hued midi skirt and crisp white button-down, her character Andy Sachs slipped into a pair of black loafers. 

There’s no telling how expensive the wardrobe budget is on this film, but this lookalike style is just $30. One Amazon shopper wrote, “I wore them for 10 hours straight at work and had zero blisters.”
