Breeze announces new flights from W.Va. Int’l Yeager Airport

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Travelers will soon have new options when planning a trip from West Virginia International Yeager Airport.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Tuesday announced that Breeze will add up to five new nonstop flights from Charleston during the next two years.

Kanawha County Commissioner Lance Wheeler said the partnership with Breeze Airways will bring people back to West Virginia.

“What’s really important to me is that we all know we have a lot of West Virginians who unfortunately have left the state over the past couple decades, and as we continue to grow, we incentivize them to follow their heart and come back to the state of their culture, their values, their family,” Wheeler said.

As a frequent traveler and West Virginia resident, James Whitmore said having new flights will make traveling a lot easier.

“Oh it opens us up for, I mean, like I’m going fishing in Montana so they can come out here easier, it just makes everything a lot closer, a lot easier to get to and I think it is going to be great for us and great for everybody coming to see our state.”

A new flight to Tampa begins Oct. 3, and tickets are on sale now.

Breeze Airways said other locations will become available to meet demand over the next two years.

Some Breeze Airways flights from Charleston will start at $49 one-way.
