Chris Gotterup has vaulted himself into contention for a place on Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black in September.
Gotterup won the Scottish Open in July, and then finished in third place at The Open Championship the following week.
Ryder Cup captain Bradley couldn’t have helped but been impressed by what the 26-year-old Oklahoma resident did during his two-week stint in Great Britain back in July.
However, it has been claimed that Bradley is more likely to pick Cameron Young rather than Gotterup for the Ryder Cup team.
That said, all of that could change with a couple of solid showings at the BMW Championship this week and the Tour Championship next week.
Gotterup will be fully aware that he needs to show some form over the next couple of weeks, if he is to get the call from Bradley.
Chris Gotterup reveals what Keegan Bradley told him about the Ryder Cup
Gotterup wasn’t even that well-known this time last month, let alone being talked about as a potential US Ryder Cup team member.
However, he has proven that he very much belongs on the biggest stage of the game.
Gotterup was speaking on SIRIUSXM PGA TOUR Radio about the upcoming Ryder Cup.

And the 26-year-old revealed the message that Bradley has given him about his chances of making the team.
He said: “I mean, it’s really, he’s been very honest about it, he said as expected, ‘it’s going to be really hard to make your first team‘.
“I’m not surprised by that. He said, ‘go take care of business over the next couple of weeks‘. The main thing that he said is, ‘leave no doubt out there‘. Obviously last week was a little disappointing, I didn’t play my best.“
“Regardless, I feel like I’ve had a great summer, and I’m excited for this week, it’s going to be a really good test. Whatever happens, happens. I have had a good year and hopefully I can finish it off in style.“
Chris Gotterup’s 2025 PGA Tour stats and results
Gotterup has catapulted himself into contention for a place on the Ryder Cup team with an outstanding few weeks of golf in July.
Here are his results from the 2025 season so far:
| Results | Gotterup’s totals |
| Events played | 25 |
| Wins | 1 |
| Top-10s | 3 |
| Top-25s | 12 |
| Missed cuts | 9 |
While that seems like a lot of missed cuts, in fairness to Gotterup, he has only missed one since April, so his form has definitely improved exponentially throughout the second half of the season.
Here are his PGA Tour stats from 2025 so far:
| Stats | Gotterup’s 2025 ranking |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 7th |
| Strokes gained approach | 106th |
| Strokes gained around the green | 63rd |
| Strokes gained putting | 87th |
| Strokes gained total | 32nd |
Perhaps the most impressive thing about Gotterup over the past month has been his ability to perform under intense pressure, and Bradley will surely place a lot of weight on that when making his selections for the Ryder Cup team.
