Cleveland State Softball Hosts Robert Morris in Final Regular Season Home Series

Cleveland, OH-The Cleveland State softball team is set for a big weekend in its final home regular season series against Robert Morris. The two teams will play a single game on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Sunday scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch as the series was shifted back a day due to inclement weather.

Cleveland State will honor its senior class of Sophie Spellman, Brooke Albaugh and Melissa Holzopfel with a pre-game ceremony on Saturday. This senior class of three has won 79 total games and brought the program back to the NCAA Tournament last season. In addition, all Cleveland State softball alumni are invited to join in a pre-game recognition which will take place at approximately 1:30 p.m. prior to the senior ceremony.

On Sunday prior to the doubleheader the entire Cleveland State team will be recognized on field as part of a pre-game ceremony. Sunday’s game will feature an ice cream giveaway in commemorative CSU mini batting helmets in between the two games as well as promotional giveaways during each inning. Both days will feature a food truck on hand for fans to purchase assorted concessions items throughout all three games.

Cleveland State and Robert Morris enter the weekend as the top two teams in the Horizon League standings. The Vikings hold a lead over the Colonials headed into the weekend and CSU has won all six of its league series so far. The two teams are fighting for the regular season championship, as RMU will play its final three conference games this weekend. Cleveland State will have one conference series remaining on the road at Oakland next weekend. The winner of this weekend’s series will be in the driver’s seat to secure the regular season championship and the right to host the Horizon League Tournament scheduled for May 7-10.

Live streaming coverage will be available for all three games with live stats available on csuvikings.com. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to Viking Field on both days to catch the pre-game festivities.
