Vince Vaughn Met Trump In 2020
Vince Vaughn has faced public scrutiny regarding his political affiliations after a 2020 encounter with then-President Donald Trump. In January 2020, during the College Football Playoff National Championship in New Orleans, a video surfaced showing Vaughn conversing with President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in a private suite.
The footage, which included Vaughn shaking Trump’s hand, quickly went viral. This interaction led to mixed reactions online, with some expressing disappointment and others defending his right to engage with politicians across party lines.
Addressing the backlash, Vaughn clarified his position in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. He described himself as a libertarian and stated, “The only candidate I ever supported is Ron Paul.” Vaughn emphasized that his meeting with Trump was a brief, cordial exchange and not an endorsement.
He also mentioned having greeted Democratic strategist James Carville at the same event, highlighting his willingness to engage with individuals across the political spectrum
Vince Vaughn’s Political Views
Vince Vaughn has been vocal about his libertarian beliefs, particularly regarding individual rights and government intervention. In a 2015 interview with British GQ, he expressed opposition to gun control, stating, “Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat.” He argued that the right to bear arms is essential for resisting a corrupt government.
Vaughn also argued for guns to be allowed in schools, saying, “Take mass shootings. These people are sick in the head and are going to kill innocent people. They are looking to slaughter defenceless human beings. They do not want confrontation. In all of our schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these f***ing schools because they know there are no guns there. They are monsters killing six-year-olds.”
