Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale was placed on a precautionary lockdown on Wednesday morning after a threat was made, according to police.

According to police, a school resource officer received a threat to the school, at 1800 SW 5 Place, around 11:45 a.m.

Additional officers were sent to the school to assist in the investigation.

“Threat came into law enforcement. School is on lockdown as a precaution. Currently no weapons found,” John Sullivan, the school district spokesman,” said in a statement.

At 2:25 p.m., after no threat was found, the all-clear was given and the lockdown was lifted.

“It appears, according to preliminary investigation, this threat was a “SWATTING” incident,” Fort Lauderdale police Sergeant David Soika said in a statement.

He said the school returned to normal operations and school pick-up was at its regular scheduled time and manner.
