KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Ryan Timms will be the youngest polesitter in the 64-year-history of the Knoxville Nationals on Saturday night.
Timms, who won Wednesday night’s preliminary night feature aboard the Leibig Motorsports No. 10, earned the most points (487) during the two qualifying nights to claim the top spot for the 50-lap $195,000-to-win main event.
Timms has won five features at Knoxville Raceway’s half-mile track this season.
Sharing the front row will be World of Outlaws regular Carson Macedo, who was the top point earner on Thursday night with 483 markers aboard the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41.
The runner-up in Thursday’s feature, Logan Schuchart, will start third aboard the Shark Racing No. 1a, sharing the second row with High Limit Racing champion Brad Sweet, who won the 2018 Knoxville Nationals.
Sheldon Haudenschild and Corey Day start on row three, while pre-Nationals favorite Rico Abreu, who won last week’s 360 Knoxville, Nationals, starts seventh.
Emerson Axsom, three-time Nationals winner Kyle Larson and Justin Peck complete the top 10 as 16 drivers are locked into Saturday night’s feature after the two qualifying nights.
Four more drivers will earn spots through Friday night’s Hard Knox program, which features all drivers who finished outside the top 26 in points during the qualifying nights. It will be a star-studded card.
