Top-35 recruit Sebastian Wilkins will choose Duke or Maryland this Friday on 247Sports

Sebastian Wilkins, the No. 31-ranked player in the class of 2026, is set to make his college choice between Duke and Maryland.

Wilkins, a 6-foot-8 power forward at Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy, will announce his decision live on the 247Sports YouTube channel at 4 pm ET this Friday. May 22.

A candidate to reclassify to the class of 2025, Wilkins has recently visited both programs. Additionally, both programs watched the versatile four-man play last weekend  for his grassroots team, Mass Rivals, at the Adidas 3SSB event in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Wilkins discussed his visits to each campus and the message he’s getting from Jon Scheyer, Buzz Williams, and their respective staffs as he nears his decision.

Duke: “It was amazing. You don’t really have to say much because everybody knows what Duke is about and their history. It was just a great environment.

“(Scheyer) said that I could come in and make an impact. They kind of recruit people that they think can make an impact. Duke isn’t for everyone, so they were showing that they believe in me.”

Maryland: “I have a great relationship with them that has been growing for years. I’ve known (Wabissa Bede) for a while now, and I’ve known Coach Buzz and the entire staff really well and the relationship has been growing year in and year out.

“It was a great visit, I learned about the campus and Maryland’s history, and what they have to sell.”

National Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein provided a scouting report of Wilkins

“Wilkins came up the ranks as a forward who could put the ball on the floor at a young age. Since then, he’s developed his shooting range and extended his skill-set away from the basket while simultaneously making real gains defensively. He’s evolved into a modern-day combo-forward who can play and defend multiple positions.

Measuring in at 6-foot-8 (with shoes on) and a 6-foot-10-plus wingspan, he has good size and a solid natural build that should only keep expanding. He’s a fluid mover for his size and a solid, albeit not dynamic, vertical athlete. In addition to being switchable defensively, he’s a willing rebounder.

Offensively, while his shooting gains have added to his versatility, he still needs to get more consistent from long rage. He made 40% of his threes in the 2024 3SSB season, but dipped down to 30% as a senior at Brewster. He projects as a reliable spot-up threat with room and rhythm right now, and has showed some flashes of becoming a movement threat, although he’s not there quite yet. He’s still at his best going to the rim, especially when he’s matched up with less mobile defenders. He goes through the lane with long strides and has soft touch around the rim, but has to get a little more reliable with his decision-making after posting a negative assist-to-turnover ratio in both the grassroots and high school seasons.

Overall, Wilkins doesn’t necessarily project as an offensive focal point. He plays within the flow, doesn’t monopolize the ball, and could continue to ascend as a potential 3-and-D type prospect who can have some added value attacking close-outs against less mobile defenders.”
