What Caitlin Clark had to say about injury, getting ready for season
The Indiana Fever finish the preseason Saturday in Atlanta against the Dream. Will Clark play?

INDIANAPOLIS — Sophie Cunningham is “day-to-day” with a right ankle injury, Fever coach Stephanie White said at Tuesday’s practice.
“It’s going to be a day-to-day thing just to see how she recovers,” White said. “It’ll all depend on the training to tell me what she’s capable of doing every day.”
Cunningham hurt her right ankle after she landed on Rhyne Howard’s foot going for a rebound in Saturday’s preseason finale win over Atlanta. She immediately hopped off the floor and to Indiana’s bench where trainers looked at her ankle. She attempted to run up and down the baseline on her ankle, but eventually walked back to the locker room during a third-quarter timeout.
She walked to the locker room under her own power, albeit with a limp. She was also wearing a boot in Gateway Center Arena following the game.
Cunningham sat off to the side of Indiana’s practice in sweats Tuesday with no boot or visible brace on her right ankle. She seemed to walk and stand normally with no visible limp, talking with White throughout practice.
Depending on how Cunningham recovers, Indiana may be down a rotational player for the season-opener Saturday against the Chicago Sky. Cunningham, acquired in an offseason trade, has played well in the preseason and started the preseason finale at Atlanta.
When do Indiana Fever play next?
Indiana opens the season against Chicago 3 p.m., Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
