The fourth-ranked team of Su-Wei Hsieh and Jelena Ostapenko reached the Wimbledon women’s doubles final, in part, by springing an upset on the top-ranked tandem of Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend (7-5, 6-4) in the semifinal round. Hsieh and Ostapenko won that match in straight sets, but had lost the first set in two of their previous four Wimbledon matches.

Eighth-ranked Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens also delivered a big win on their path to the Wimbledon final, toppling No. 2 Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe (7-5, 7-6) with tight wins in straight sets in the quarterfinals. They dropped the opening set to Olivia Gadecki and Desirae Kraczyk in the semis, but won Sets 2 and 3 to (3-6, 6-0, 6-3) to advance to Sunday’s final.
