As Hayden Christensen prepares for his return in Ahsoka season 2, he is considering another return to Star Wars. After playing Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy from 2002 to 2005, Christensen reappeared on-screen in Ahsoka season 1, haunting his Padawan from beyond the grave, and he is set to reappear in the next season.
Having been involved in the Star Wars universe for over 20 years, Christensen has become a critical star of the franchise. His return in Ahsoka was surprising, though it came after cameos in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and in Obi-Wan Kenobi. While he will appear in Ahsoka season 2, Disney has not announced another opportunity for the actor.
While speaking at a panel at Fan Expo Boston for which Screen Rant was in attendance, Christensen expressed his excitement about the prospect of reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker once more. The decision is not Christensen’s to make, as it will depend on “the powers that be“, but Christensen would gladly appear as Anakin again. Check out his quote below:
One hundred percent… I would love to, yes. If the powers that be decide that’s something that they want to see, I would be there in a heartbeat.
What This Means For Hayden Christensen And Star Wars
While Anakin’s influence on Ahsoka is undeniable, she is not the only character who was deeply connected to the wayward Jedi. As Darth Vader, he devastated the galaxy, ruining countless lives as a ruthless Sith Lord. By sharing his excitement about returning, Christensen opened many paths for other potential Star Wars shows.
If he is interested in leading a production in his own right, Christensen could star in a show about Darth Vader’s early years. Many comics and prose books could provide material for a compelling story, and it would allow Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni to further flesh out his character.
Christensen’s comment indicates that he is not currently involved in any further productions, given that he is still depending on “the powers that be“, but there is a chance that he is simply not sharing everything that he knows. There are many other Star Wars productions currently underway, and not all have been fully fleshed out to the public.
Our Take On Hayden Christensen’s Potential Return
As a major character in the prequels and in the original trilogy, Anakin remains one of the most important Star Wars characters. As the generation that was raised with Christensen’s Anakin continues to grow, it is only natural that he would have an increasing presence in the franchise.
After Obi-Wan and Ahsoka were both given shows of their own, Anakin deserves the chance to lead a show in his own right. While there is still no guarantee that it will ever be developed, as Disney is returning to a quality-over-quantity production style, it would be exciting to finally see Vader lead a show or movie of his own.
